Volume Graphics is proud to be part of the special exhibition "Verschwindende Vermächtnisse: Die Welt als Wald [Disappearing Legacies: The World as a Forest]" at the Zoological Museum in the Center for Natural History (CeNak) in Hamburg, Germany. From November 10, 2017, to March 29, 2018, the special exhibition sheds light on the destruction of the tropical habitats in South America and Southeast Asia and mass extinction in the context of the human impact on the Earth's geology and ecosystems. The curators are especially proud of the combination of scientific and artistic exhibits in a single exhibition, which is very unique.
A highlight is the 3D digital rendering of a Sumatran rhino skull from the collection of CeNak that was created in cooperation with the Hamburg-based CT manufacturer YXLON and Volume Graphics. The reason for this is that the original is too rare and precious and therefore the risk of theft is too high. Moreover, the scan can be used to answer scientific questions.
